It was the first British university to establish a Department of Peace Studies in 1973, which is currently the world's largest university centre for the study of peace and conflict. The division has a reputation as a centre of excellence in peace research, international relations, security studies, conflict resolution and development and peace studies. The University of Bradford was the first higher education institution in the UK to open a modern business school and the first outside London to offer part-time degrees.

For students studying management and law related subjects, the school of management parkland campus is just 25 minutes' walk or a free bus ride from the city campus, where historic buildings stand side-by-side with the latest state-of-the-art facilities.
